“I’m Poppy, Sales & Customer Support at The Paving Experts. With nearly thirty years’ experience in sales & customer experience, I have had the pleasure of working with customers face-to-face, offering advice and guidance for the majority of my career.
“I love being able to utilise the wide-ranging skills I’ve developed to support our customers – some of whom are major contractors or general landscapers and some who are everyday people looking to grout their patios themselves. I love being able to offer advice and guidance, and generally help people – whether it’s for a half million-pound contract for a huge streetscape project or a family’s new patio so they can enjoy their time together outdoors. I’m proud of our team for delivering a quality service which enables our customers to get the products they need, on time and love getting the comments, feedback and pictures which follow the project’s completion.”
Poppy started her career in the hair & beauty industry, moving into sales, events & promotions, leading large teams of promotional staff at trade shows, exhibitions and events all over the world. Over the last 25 years Poppy’s roles have all been based around sales & customer care and have seen her train, coach, mentor and motivate teams to ensure they excel in their roles to give the best service possible, and to provide customers with a seamless experience from start to finish.
Since early 2009 Poppy worked for the largest luxury retirement house builders in the country McCarthy & Stone and PegasusLife, developing from a customer consultant to leading a large sales force. In 2017 Poppy joined The Paving Experts to lead the sales, logistics & customer service team – Poppy and her colleagues are the first point of contact for customers queries and negotiating prices, raising quotations, creating invoices and processing payments. Poppy works closely with the rest of the team and other departments to ensure all customer orders are delivered in a timely manner to deliver outstanding operational performance and exceed customer expectations.
Qualifications and Professional Development
Over the last thirty years Poppy has gained extensive knowledge and professional development in the construction industry, working closely with major contractors, sub-contractors, landscapers, architects, planning & legal services, general builders and tilers; speaking with them on a daily basis. Poppy has also gained considerable product knowledge across our range of paving grouts, pothole repair, fast set concretes and mortars, tiling adhesives and grouts and floor levellers. Poppy offers advice to customers to establish what their project is, any specifications, the right product for the project, the number of bags or tubs of product that they’ll need to complete the job.
One customer recently said of Poppy “Can’t recommend her enough, her knowledge and the customer service was truly excellent which is extremely rare in these online days. Couldn’t do enough to help me and felt like a very personal service.”
Poppy hopes to continue her personal development and regularly attends product training, seminars and events to broaden her knowledge – Nick Holmes, Training & Support Manager at Instarmac spent time with Poppy in the early part of her career at The Paving Experts and said:

‘Customers first’ is Poppy’s motto, you’ll generally find her with her ear to the phone dealing with a customer query, typing an email quote and adding orders that have come through via our website – all at the same time as drinking a cup of tea and keeping spirits high with her infectious laugh in the office.
